Saturday 21st May – Essex Megafinal 2023
in the “Moot Hall” on the 2nd floor of Colchester Town Hall, CO1 1PJ
Open to all juniors born after 31-Aug-2004.
An official UK Chess Chalenge qualifying Event for the Gigafinals.
Sections: U8, U10, U12, U14 and U18.
Rate of play: Six rounds of rapid games with 15 minutes for each player and 10 seconds increment for each move.

Sunday 16th July – Colchester FIDE Rapid
in Colchester Town Hall, CO1 1PJ

A one-day FIDE-rated rapid play tournament for adults and juniors.

A simultaneous exhibition by Grandmaster Michael (‘Mickey’) Adams, 8 times British
Chess Champion, celebrating the life in chess of the late Colchester Grandmaster
Dr Jonathan Penrose OBE, 10 times British Chess Champion.
The Chess Challenge is the official opening event of the Jonathan Penrose Chess Park:
public chess tables in the City of Colchester by the Mercury Theatre.

Moreton Hall Community Centre, Symonds Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP32 7EE
An ECF Grand Prix event and an East Anglian Grand Prix event.
A 5 round Swiss Tournament with 4 sections –
Open, Major (u1900), Inter (u1700) and Minor (u1500).
Rate of play: All moves in 90 minutes plus 15 seconds per move from move 1.
